The Concept of TOEFL certificates

TOEFL is an abbreviation of Test of English as a Foreign Language, one of the tests evaluate the learners’ ability in listening, speaking, reading and writing. TOEFL is used as a standard for approving admission of students from other countries to study in America and Canada. Currently, the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT) replaced the traditional Paper-based TOEFL.
There is no concept of pass and fail in TOEFL. The results of iBT are maximum of 30 for each skill and 120 for all the 4 skills. Depending on the requirements of the course, each university has its own standard to admit students. Normally, with the results of 60 (equivalent to 500 of PBT), students can be admitted to study in universities in English-spoken countries. For studying postgraduate programs, students have to get the results from 80 to 100 (equivalent to 550-600 of PBT).
